We don’t really have a true entryway in our house, which means shoes tend to collect by the front door fast. That little pile started making the whole space feel messy, even when everything else was picked up.
I scoured the internet looking for a solution that felt both practical and visually pleasing. Shoe racks and baskets still looked a little messy to me, and while I liked the idea of a shoe bench, our space was too tight to make it work without slightly blocking the door.
This cabinet ended up being such a simple fix. It gives us a place to tuck shoes out of sight and helps the area feel a lot cleaner. At just 10 inches deep, it takes up much less space than an open shoe rack or bench. It also makes better use of vertical space, gives me a spot to drop keys, mail, or sunglasses, and creates a nice area for a mirror so you can do a last-minute check before heading out the door.
If you’re dealing with a small house, no mudroom, or just too many shoes by the door, this is one of those practical pieces that makes life a little easier.
